I might be reading this book for the rest of my life. Despite my grumpy son's complaints, I'm very fond of Sibley's guides to birds and trees, this one included. I've got to admit, the term "birdwatcher" conjures up all sorts of images of that skinny strange lady on "The Beverly Hillbillies. That's what birdwatchers call themselves these days. Well ok, I'm a very amateur birder, but I do have some great assistants my kids that have been learning all about birds right along with me.

You see, when we started homeschooling, we knew nothing about nature. We did, however, have a bird feeder right outside our window.
Befor I've got to admit, the term "birdwatcher" conjures up all sorts of images of that skinny strange lady on "The Beverly Hillbillies. Before long, the kids started asking "what's that little yellow bird" or "what's that bird with yellow and red on it's wings? I needed help! After spending untold amounts of money on various field guides, I can now say hands down, this is the best book I can recommend for bird watching. With this book, my family has now identified 35 species of birds either in our yard or soaring overhead. That's 35 species of birds right here in my back yard.
